IT Specialist – Job Description
The IT Specialist will oversee and manage the day-to-day support of IT systems in a hotel environment, ensuring the proper functioning of business systems, office systems, computer networks, and telephony systems. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a variety of IT tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support:
- Ensure operational support for all internal hotel IT systems, including network infrastructure, servers, guest-facing systems, and business applications.
- Minimize system outages and ensure systems run smoothly for both the hotel’s internal departments and guests.
- Monitor and resolve IT issues that arise promptly to avoid disruptions in hotel operations.
- Department Supervision:
- Supervise the IT Department to ensure effective delivery of IT services, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within budget, and according to IT operating standards.
- Ensure the team is appropriately trained and able to handle daily IT issues efficiently.
- System Maintenance and Knowledge:
- Maintain and apply extensive product knowledge across all hotel IT systems to fully utilize system capabilities and improve service delivery.
- Stay current with technological advancements, applying best practices for IT support in the hospitality industry.
- IT Governance and Security:
- Ensure compliance with IT governance and security standards, protecting both the hotel's internal network and guest-facing systems.
- Understand and adhere to all legal IT requirements, particularly in data privacy, security, and IT compliance.
- System Needs Assessment and Solutions:
- Proactively identify current and future IT system needs, evaluating the hotel’s operational requirements and proposing solutions for improvement.
- Provide technical solutions for system upgrades, troubleshooting, and scaling of IT infrastructure as needed.
- Collaboration Across Departments:
- Build strong, cooperative relationships with other hotel departments, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of IT needs.
- Serve as a liaison between management and IT staff, ensuring business objectives are met and internal customer satisfaction is maintained.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- Previous IT management experience, preferably in the hotel, leisure, or service sector.
- Strong understanding and experience with Microsoft systems (Windows Server, Office Suite, etc.).
- Knowledge of hotel applications such as Fidelio, Micros, and other property management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
- Current technical knowledge of technologies, including networks, databases, business applications, and development methodology.
- Ability to plan ahead, develop contingency plans, and ensure system continuity in case of any issues or system failures.
